Pangolin is a compactly foldable and individually adjustable helmet for water sports. Inspired by the mammal of the same name, Pangolin consists of an outer shell of hard scales and a soft, cushioning core. The armor plates of the helmet are connected to a water resistant membrane that holds them in place. When tension is applied through the cords on each side, the plates are tied together and form the shape of a helmet by jamming up against one another. This mechanism allows for adjustment of the helmet size to accommodate the individual circumference and shape of any head. Velcro strips on the helmets interior support the attachment to a neoprene hood. This way a chin strap is not needed.
